Motul Drive Supra 85W-140 is a mineral, extreme-pressure (EP) heavy-duty transmission and differential lubricant formulated for all types of mechanical transmissions, reduction gears, and hypoid differentials without limited-slip systems. Formerly known as HD 85W140, this product meets API GL-4 / GL-5 and MIL-PRF 2105 D standards and is the recommended step up when a standard xxW-90 lubricant specified by the gearbox manufacturer is insufficient to withstand very heavy loads, shock conditions, or high temperatures.

What is Motul Drive Supra 85W-140 Suitable For?

Drive Supra 85W-140 is suited for applications operating under shock loads, heavy loads at low rotational speeds, or moderate loads at high rotational speeds. It is specifically designed for situations where heavier viscosity protection is required beyond a standard xxW-90 grade — particularly in heavy-duty trucks, agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles operating under extreme load conditions. The oil maintains SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) 140 viscosity grade after 20 hours of shear testing in accordance with the SAE J306 standard (KRL test), ensuring consistent performance under mechanical stress.

Performance Standards

Drive Supra 85W-140 meets API GL-4 / GL-5 and MIL-PRF 2105 D standards, and meets the performance requirements of Volvo 97310, ZF (Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen) TE-ML 07A, and ZF TE-ML 08.

The oil’s exceptionally high lubricating power helps reduce friction and wear throughout the transmission. Its high viscosity at elevated temperatures enhances oil film resistance under extreme operating conditions, including heavy loads, shock impacts, and high thermal environments. The formulation ensures excellent oil film stability at high temperatures, along with reliable anti-corrosion and anti-foam performance for long-term operational stability. Compatible with synthetic or mineral oils.
